Development of an intelligent drone engine controller that allows for the detection and regulation of the engine shaft position

The project aims to develop an intelligent brushless motor controller for drones with a sensorless FOC algorithm and a neural network-based state observer. The solution will be used mainly in the commercial, industrial and military drone sector, both in monitoring applications and in agriculture or logistics. In the current state of technology, there are no ready-made solutions that provide such broad functional benefits, affecting higher accuracy of position estimation - which translates into very high control precision, reliability (work in difficult conditions) and energy efficiency (longer flight time on a single battery charge - thus extending battery life). By implementing the project, the Company will be able to introduce a product with strong export potential to the global market, which will have technological advantages over currently used solutions - in line with the development of: - eco-innovation by reducing the negative impact on the environment (extending the life of lithium-ion batteries, the recycling of which is currently associated with many difficulties) - digital innovation, through the use of information and communication technologies (innovative FOC algorithm allowing for the optimization of engine operation and elimination of the need for expensive encoders). The solution has the potential to transform the existing target market of products, as it will combine the advantages of sensorless and sensor controllers, while introducing an innovative approach to highly precise estimation of the rotor position without the use of sensors.
