Technological Research On Propulsion by HYdrogen
TROPHY
The "TROPHY" project, officially titled "Technological Research On Propulsion by HYdrogen," aims to advance the use of hydrogen propulsion in aviation. The project is part of the Clean Aviation Joint Undertaking and supports the broader HYDEA (HYdrogen DEmonstrator for Aviation) initiative.
Key Objectives:
- Hydrogen Fuel System Development: The project focuses on developing hydrogen fuel systems for direct burn engines, progressing from ground testing to preparing for flight tests.
- Innovative Hydrogen Technologies: TROPHY will develop and test innovative technologies to enhance the efficiency and feasibility of hydrogen propulsion systems.
- Demonstration and Validation: The ultimate goal is to demonstrate the viability of hydrogen propulsion systems through rigorous ground tests and lay the groundwork for future flight tests.
Expected Impact:
- Environmental Benefits: The project aims to significantly reduce carbon emissions from aviation, aligning with the European Green Deal's goals for climate neutrality by 2050.
- Technological Advancements: By advancing hydrogen propulsion technologies, TROPHY supports the transition to cleaner, more sustainable aviation solutions.
