The HERWINGT project, led by Airbus Defence & Space under Clean Aviation, is exploring a strut-braced wing design that could improve fuel efficiency by 15% and reduce component weight by 20% for regional aircraft. This innovative design will incorporate morphing edges and distributed propulsion options. Expected to culminate in full-scale demonstrator testing by 2025, the project aligns with Clean Aviation’s goal of zero-emission regional aircraft.
