Advancing Eco-Friendly Aircraft Propulsion with Additive Manufacturing and Hydrogen Fuel Cells

Researchers from the exFan project are pioneering the use of additive manufacturing (AM) and hydrogen fuel cells to transform aircraft propulsion systems. Aiming for low-emission aviation by 2050, the team is developing an innovative heat management system that converts waste heat into additional thrust, enhancing propulsion efficiency. Through collaborative efforts, they’re advancing AM technology to create durable, lightweight components, aligning with the European Green Deal’s goals for sustainable aviation.
