HAZITEK. Programme to support business R&D.

Aid scheme consisting of non-refundable grants to support the implementation of Industrial Research or Experimental Development Projects, both competitive and strategic in nature, in the business sector of the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country, and in the areas of specialisation included in the new Basque Country Science and Technology Plan 2030 (PCTI 2030).

These grants are co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

*Budget allocation: Depending on the Annual call. 92.500.000,00 € (2024 Call).
*Financial performance: Depending on the Annual call.
-Competitive projects: 42.500.000,00 € (2024 Call).
-Strategic projects: 50.000.000,00 € (2024 Call).

*Eligible projects:
-Competitive Research and Development Projects.
Competitive R&D projects will be considered to be Industrial Research or Experimental Development projects aimed at the development of new products, processes or services or which allow for the considerable improvement of existing ones.
Projects seeking access to aid for competitive R&D projects must include a coherent set of R&D activities, clearly aimed at the development of original products, processes or services that are superior to those already existing in order to better satisfy the demands of the market and society.
Projects aimed at the improvement of existing products/processes/services or those where the product developed does not have a degree of novelty to be considered as a new product/process/service will not be considered as 'projects for the development of new products/processes/services'. Normal routine or periodic modifications to products, production lines and processes, existing services and other routine operations are excluded from subsidies, even if such modifications may represent improvements to them.

-Industrial research and experimental development projects of a strategic nature.
Eligible projects are those industrial research and experimental development projects of a strategic nature included in the Areas of Specialisation of the Euskadi 2030 Science, Technology and Innovation Plan, which promote public-private collaboration in Research and Technological Development and Innovation, in such a way that they have a driving effect on the economy of the Basque Country, favouring the intervention of SMEs and access to the Horizon Europe Programme.
R&D&I activities will be subsidised, corresponding to industrial research and experimental development projects of a strategic nature in the areas of specialisation included in the Euskadi 2030 Science, Technology and Innovation Plan, aimed at creating new useful knowledge to obtain new or better products, processes or services, as well as integrating new technologies of a strategic nature, creating new patents and new science and technology-based companies (NTBCs). All of this is aimed at job creation and diversification of the Basque business fabric, as well as improving business competitiveness.
